Volunteer of the Month: January 2020

We have thrilling news for you: every month 826LA staff put our heads together to find out who’s doing amazing things for our organization, who deserves thanks beyond the norm, and who is just plain terrific—and we’ve chosen the Volunteer of the Month!

Introducing Anna!

Anna volunteers for 826LA’s In-schools, personal statement workshops and hails from Woodridge, IL. When she’s not volunteering at 826LA, she is working as a marketing specialist and studying hard for her MBA!

Anna took time to share why she volunteers at 826LA:

Favorite 826LA moment with students?

Every time I make a connection with a student as they’re telling me about their life, their challenges, and their dreams. I love being able to help students connect the dots on how to best tell their story in the context of a personal statement. It’s exciting to see that lightbulb go on in their head.

What do you enjoy about volunteering with 826LA?

I enjoy volunteering because I am so humbled by the students. They are determined, compassionate, and optimistic. Whenever I feel discouraged about terrible things happening in the world, I remember that these students are the next generation and our lives are in their hands. It gives me hope for the future.
