826LA may be a literary education nonprofit, but it’s a fun literary education nonprofit (with a Time Travel Mart), so for the organization’s tenth anniversary, they’re celebrating with none other than a dance-a-thon fundraiser at The Unique Space (1275 E 6th St). Pre-register online to strap on your boogie-ing shoes and compete for three hours of rug-cutting among hundreds of boisterous, philanthropic Angelenos. Take the sedentary route by simply donating, or (preferably) dance your fanny off to raise funds—those who raise the most ($100 or more) are eligible for some pretty sweet prizes themselves, including swag from TOMS and personal drink service on the dance floor—plus brownie points go to guests who show up in “Time Warp”-themed costume. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit 826LA’s free writing and tutoring programs for kids. Register to compete officially in the dance-a-thon here.
