Time Travel Mart Creative Spotlight: Stefan Bucher

We visited with the amazing Stefan Bucher, who is been behind many of the wonderful Time Travel Mart products we all know and love. Some crowd favorites include Robot Milk, Communist Soap, the TK Brand™ line (including Robot Toupees), and of course, you gotta throw in some Shade every now and then!

Stefan today and from 2057.

Stefan is a creative force of nature and the winds from the future swept him from his native Germany all over the world and finally landed him in Los Angeles. To quote himself, “Stefan G. Bucher is a man possessed. When an idea pops into his head he can’t stop until he somehow makes it real.” That talent for making things real is what has helped to mold and inspire the Time Travel Marts to be the best convenience stores for time travelers, ever!

And now on to the hard questions:

How long have you been involved with 826LA?
I’ve been involved with 826LA from the very beginning. [Former Executive Director] Mac Barnett brought me in to design the Echo Park Time Travel Mart in the fall of 2006, and I’ve been orbiting Planet 826 ever since.

What Time Travel Mart product is the most handy to you and why?
I find the Barbarian Repellant to be particularly useful when I go to visit my German ancestors. They’re family, but they can get a bit clingy.

Would you rather be omniscient, omnipotent, or omnipresent?
They all sound exhausting. I’m happy being omnifussy.

They say that Alexander the Great slept with a copy of The Iliad and a dagger underneath his pillow. What do you sleep with under your pillow?
I like to keep a length of hypertwine under my pillow, and a plasma-proof copy of Robert’s Rules of Chronological Order.

What’s in your ideal burrito?
The secret to happiness.

What is your favorite motto?
Make it better than it has to be.

One last question: Past or future?
Future. I’ve been to the past, and it wasn’t for me.
