Music is what defines us.

The music we listen to inspires us in many ways,
Music is just a small part that helps us grow our creative mind
Music is an inspiration that will help us grow throughout our problems
It gives us happiness, sadness, many emotions that we will encounter
throughout life
Music will empower,
help us discover new ideas of those around us
Music is discovering yourself.

To accompany this poem, students of the 2016 Words, Spoken writing workshop designed a playlist to share with the world. These are the songs that play in the minds of 826LA students. Enjoy.

Every summer, 826LA students gather for an intensive five-day workshop called Words, Spoken that culminates in a reading, showcasing 826LA students’ powerful voices to their friends, family, and community.
