A Race Through Time and Space: Raising Funds for Free Writing Programs in LA
Saving dinosaurs from extinction and chasing down a pair of caveman and robot besties are not easy tasks. Supporters of 826LA managed to tackle the challenge of completing the exciting 0.826 mile course at the second annual Half Half Half Half Half Marathon on Sunday October 28.
It was a race like no other. People of all ages gathered at 826LAND to cheer on competitors as they grew an extra limb for a three-legged race, wrote impromptu poetry, and recited their poems at our open-mic. KCRW sound systems and emcee, Rico Gagliano had crowds entertained. Local food trucks had people well-fed. Most importantly, every guest contributed in RAISING MORE THAN $49,000 for free writing and tutoring programs! The fundraising event was a total success!!
