826LA Welcomes Angelica Butiu, In-Schools Program Assistant

826LA is excited to introduce our new In-Schools Program Assistant! Angelica will be supporting 826LA In-Schools programs at schools in East Los Angeles.

Angelica Butiu was born and raised in Eagle Rock. After earning her BA in Psychology from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles, Angelica started as an intern for 826LA in Echo Park dedicating her involvement to the In-Schools program. Through an AmeriCorps Summer Associate position, she supported the college access program, led personal statement workshops, and enhanced volunteer trainings. Angelica also assisted in organizing the 8th annual Great Los Angeles Personal Statement Weekend and 826LA’s Young Authors’ Book Project at Manual Arts High School.

Her motivation for supporting students is inspired by their resiliency in reaching their goals. Aside from working with 826LA’s young scholars, Angelica is pursuing Spanish fluency and a graduate’s degree in Psychology.
