Favorite 826LA moment(s) with students? So many to choose from! One week there was a rumor that I was famous. I’ve also appeared (as a villain!) in a couple of writing projects. And watching the creativity, boundless energy, and determination of the 826LA students every week.

If you could choose one superhero power, what would it be and why? If I could have one superpower I would choose to have limitless kindness. That’s a superpower, isn’t it?

Hometown: Sioux City, Iowa
Occupation: Current undergraduate student, soon-to-be medical student

Favorite 826LA moment(s) with students? Working with students during [the Great Los Angeles] Personal Statement Weekend! I learned so many amazing stories about my student. Their ambitions inspire me every time.

If you could choose one superhero power, what would it be and why? Mind reading! It’s fun to know what other people are thinking.

From 826LA in Mar Vista

Name: Ona Rynearson
Hometown: Mendocino, California
Occupation: Human Resources

Favorite 826LA moment(s) with students? I really like when students realize their ideas are valuable and can work for whatever we are working on, be it a writing workshop or a homework assignment. Sometimes they think their creativity has to be limited, and it is exciting when they figure out almost anything is possible! I like to see them light up about writing and learning, and I love it when they come back later and can say they did well on an assignment.

If you could choose one superhero power, what would it be and why? I think I would choose healing. Which hopefully could cover healing myself and healing others. Seems like that should count for one! It is probably not the coolest super power, but it is one that is always really helpful and needed.
