They Were Shining With Ambition Exhibit on June 3, 2014

They Were Shining With Ambition: Stories of the Street Vendor in Los Angeles is the product of conversations between 12th grade students from the Los Angeles School of Global Studies and street vendors across Los Angeles. From the lives of cut fruit sellers to elote experts, hot dog vendors to papusa peddlers, the true stories in this book look at immigration, the American dream, and Los Angeles’s love of food from a fresh angle. Read a story from the book here.

We invite you to join us for the release of the book as well as an exhibit of student artwork and videos related to the project. They Were Shining With Ambition is the result of a partnership between 826LA, East LA Community Corporation, and the Los Angeles School of Global Studies.
