Student Writing Wednesday: Oscar’s “Crionogove”

“It was the most dangerous dimension to have ever existed.”

Chicken Wing walks in the city at night. The city is cold, with faint street lights. Chicken Wing sees his friend Chacha singing in front of the dimensional airline. He feels happy. Chicken Wing says, “Hi,” to Chacha. Chicken Wing walks into the dimensional airline that leads to an interdimensional rift. Chicken Wing finds himself in another dimension and it was the most dangerous dimension to have ever existed.

It was called Crionogove phew! The dimension was full of evil Crionogove, which food like Chicken Wings can sense. Before he can re-enter the portal, the portal closed. Before it closed, Jolly Rancher and Chacha shot out of the portal. It felt weird and happy but also sad at the same time. After that, they got up and they ran for their lives…. End of Book 1. Continued on Book 2.

Food. Food. Food. Who doesn’t like food? In this food-themed chapbook, When I Said I Didn’t Like You, I Lied,  826LA students write odes to their favorite recipes, flavorful comics, and family food memories. Read on for descriptions of how Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Crunchy Snacks are cooked at 300 degrees Fahrenheit, fresh comics with food characters—complete with heroes and villains, including TacoMcWaffle and Chef Pizza—and family memories, like the time Luke’s mom made her famous tamales or the time Yatzel and Emely had churros at school for Hispanic Heritage Day. Pull up a chair, grab a snack, and enjoy this book of writing by the students of After-school Tutoring.
