We are excited to welcome Shawn Silver to 826LA’s staff! As the Events Coordinator, Shawn will coordinate community, volunteer appreciation, and fundraising events, including Tell Me A Story.
Shawn brings a variety of experience to this role. While earning a BA in Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Shawn created the show Habitat for UNC-CH Cable TV, which tracked habitat and species diversity in the region. As morning and evening anchor for NBC affiliate KIEM-TV in Eureka, CA, she wrote and produced dozens of stories. She later was a series producer for an Australian science program, wrote and produced nature documentaries for the Discovery Channel and The Learning Channel, and was the showrunner for three on-air series. Most recently, Shawn served as Chair of Friends of Wonderland (FOW), where she created and produced dozens of fundraising events, and served on the Board of Citizens for Los Angeles Wildlife, an environmental non-profit at the forefront of urban wildlife advocacy.
