826LA is proud to announce its newest volunteer partnership with Team One, an LA-based advertising agency that brings people together from multiple fields to collaborate as one on unique projects for remarkable clients. They believe in the tremendous advantage of having many disciplines working together under one roof, and we couldn’t agree more. We are looking forward to work with Team One’s employees as they volunteer to support our field trip program as storytellers, typists, illustrators, and more.

“It’s so exciting to have our work in the community be sponsored by companies in our community,” says 826LA Volunteer Manager, Lauren Humphrey. “It’s great to work with organizations that step up in such a helpful and meaningful way, by supporting their employees to become 826LA volunteers.”

Through partnering with 826LA, the agency will adopt one writing-based, Common-Core-aligned field trip each month. During field trips, which are 100% free for students and their schools, entire classrooms of LAUSD students come to 826LA to write a book–in just three hours! Monthly, Team One will fill our writing lab with volunteers and give students the helping hands they need to succeed. Our field trips, ranging from Storytelling & Bookmaking to Choose Your Own Adventure, require a great deal of creativity from students as well as volunteers.

This new partnership will certainly have a great impact on 826LA’s service as a whole.

“826LA and Team One both have a strong commitment to building creative minds,” says Team One Communications Director, Allison Citino. “It’s inspiring to see young kids have a place where they’re encouraged to explore writing and art, and it’s an added bonus that we are able to help foster that environment.”
