Hooray for 826 Day!

“Working with a tutor didn’t only change my personal statement, but my life. I am grateful that my tutor took the time to review my personal statement. My writing process was changed from a laundry list draft to a draft that really represents me and reflects my personality.”

We now have more than 82.6 new volunteers thanks to another successful 826 Day! 826LA was on a mission to get 82.6 new volunteers signed up for personal statement trainings by August 26th, our annual 826 Day. With the help of our incredible network of dedicated volunteers, educators, and partnerships, we made it happen. Thank you!

826 Day is all about highlighting the importance of personal statement sessions where high school students are given the unique opportunity to work one-on-one with volunteers—part of our In-Schools program and our Annual Great Los Angeles Personal Statement Weekend event—to help transform their stories into compelling personal statements for college applications. This one-on-one attention creates a safe and brave space for a student to share their life experiences and reveal their true character through writing for their future.

If you weren’t able to take part in our 826 Day mission but are still interested in becoming a volunteer, Sign up below. And don’t forget to send this to one person who can also help us make a difference.

Use #826on826 to share your personal statement story to inspire one person to sign up for a personal statement training session!
