The BIG Press Conference
For this edition of the 826LA Journalism workshop, we learned about press conferences: what they are, how to ask questions at one, and how to write a story after attending one.
Of course, this required a little acting on the part of the volunteers. We played the police chief, suspect, lawyer and store clerk in a purported robbery of the Echo Park Time Travel Mart, in which some cans of Mammoth Chunks were stolen by someone in a Viking helmet.
The students not only wrote stories based on the questions they asked at the conference, but also put their best voices on to record the story for radio. Take a listen with the player, below!
