Be Mine: Students Write Valentines for Partners in Time

photo (29)

We’ve got nothing but love for all of our supporters! In preparation for this Valentine’s Day, our students shared their appreciation for our Partners in Time members by writing heartfelt notes of gratitude to this group of seventy generous donors.

During free time at After-School Tutoring and Tuesday and Thursday Night Tutoring at 826LA, our students of all ages took the time to decorate and write sweet, amusing, and thoughtful heart-shaped valentines.

Student Denise defines love as “the sunshine of your heart.”

Some of these cards describe what love is. For example, “Love is rating a rommantic song” or “love is what we need.”

Ash, a 16-year-old student, wrote this beautiful poem, “Things I Love,” for a lucky Partners in Time member:

Things I Love

the old windows of a deco building
or cracks in a white painted ceiling
I don’t think love is just a feeling
love is in memories, places, and keeps yr
heart beating

. . . . . . . .

yr tired voice at 2 in the morning
while outside, the rain was pouring
under pillows and blankets to cover
I felt happy and sappy for my lover.

. . . . . . . .

when clouds get fluffy and white after
a storm
they tower over the city as we sit,
looking from the floor
the sky anytime or any hue
I love the weather, especially in the gloom

. . . . . . . .

small creatures in a
green redwood forest
creeks running through
the pacific north-
west
I love nature,
that covers
the coast
that’s the
best
