All Ways Up Foundation awards college-bound students from 826LA Writers’ Room at Manual Arts

826LA Writers’ Room college-bound students receive All Ways Up Foundation scholarship and stipend awards for higher education.

Every fall, our In-Schools program is dedicated to helping 12th grade seniors on a life-changing assignment: the personal statement for college admission and scholarships.

In the months leading up to application deadlines, 826LA volunteers work one-on-one with students in classrooms across LAUSD schools to help them craft responses that tell the stories beyond their grades and test scores. In the process, tutors learn about students’ tenacity, challenges, and successes.

The All Ways Up Foundation is a strong partner in our mission to provide college access resources. For the past three years, they helped fund the Writers’ Room at Manual Arts Senior High School and awarded Manual Arts seniors over $180,000 total in scholarships for college.

Jose Cisneros was the recipient of the All Ways a Scholar scholarship, amounting in $10,000 over the next four years of his undergraduate education. This year, the All Ways Up Foundation also awarded ten finalists a $1,000 stipend.

Each recipient worked on their personal statement in the 826LA Writers’ Room, attended our Annual Great Los Angeles Personal Statement Weekend, and Scholarship Day.

Congratulations to the following students as they begin their journey in higher education this upcoming fall:
