In the blogosphere, Wendy Spencer shows 826LA some love following her visit to Los Angeles

Our English Language Learner campers were one of our biggest success this year, and it couldn’t have happened without AmeriCorps support.

Thanks so much to Corporation for National and Community Service CEO Wendy Spencer, who was able to meet and greet some of the 826LA AmeriCorps team during a whirlwind tour on the West Coast! As we mentioned, it was an immense honor for us to give 826LA personnel their first face-to-face meetings with Wendy, whose organization has supported us since 2010 as we seek to build capacity for future operations serving Los Angeles families.

You can read about the highlights of Wendy’s trip, including profiles of some of the awesome and powerful organizations she visited in California, here on the National Service blog. She writes:

I was thrilled to meet a mother whose twin daughters, enrolled in 826LA’s English Language Learner Camp, are overcoming language barriers and gaining the confidence to raise their hands, ask questions, and engage in class. 826LA, with the support of national service members, is empowering some of Los Angeles’ young people to have a voice.
